Women's Cross Country Races At Fordham Fiasco

PHILADELPHIA - A young Penn squad begins its 2010 campaign with the Fordham Fiasco on Saturday morning.

The Red and Blue return a wealth of underclassmen this season, including the top two scorers from a season ago. Sophomore Leslie Kovach was Penn's first or second finisher in four meets last season, including a 33rd overall finish at the Heptagonal Championships and a 44th place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals.

Fellow classmate Margaret Diacont was equally impressive, finishing the season as the Quakers' top finisher in both Heps (32nd) and the Mid-Atlantic Regionals (40th). Another second-year, Kimberly Condino will be expected to push both Kovach and Diacont. Junior Laura Steel will also be in the mix to finish within Penn's top five.

Last season the Quakers won the Fiasco with four runners finishing in the top ten and seven in the top 12. Kovach took third overall, while Steel finished seventh and Diacont was 12th.
