Women's Cross Country Readies For Heps

PHILADELPHIA - The women's cross country team looks to improve on last year's finish as they gear up for the 2009 Heptagonals at New York City's Van Cortlandt Park on Friday, October 30th.

The Quakers have had a significant break since their last meet on October 2nd, in which Penn placed seventh out of 40 teams in the Paul Short Invitational. The Penn State Invitational, scheduled for October 16th, was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Penn comes into Heps with a vastly different roster than last year, as three freshmen have scored points for the Quakers this season. First-year Leslie Kovach has been the team's top finisher in two races, while classmates Laura Bilder and Margaret Diacont have provided depth for this year's squad.

The Quakers aim to improve upon last year's sixth place finish when they begin at 11:15 a.m. For more information on the Heps, click here.
