Last year the Quakers were victimized by weather and ran in just five meets prior to the Heptagonal Championships, including a first-place finish at the Fordham Fiasco and second-place finish at the Iona Meet of Champions.
In 2010, the Red and Blue will once again open its season at the Fordham Fiasco on Sept. 11 before heading to the Iona Meet of Champions a week later. The team will then run at the Paul Short Invitational Oct. 1.
Penn gets a week of rest before the Penn State Invitational on October 16 and then looks to improve on last year's seventh place finish at Heps on Oct. 29.
The Quakers have good reason to be optimistic about the upcoming season as they return four of their top five runners from last year's Heps. Sophomores Margaret Diacont and Leslie Kovach finished one-two in the meet for Penn in 2009. Sophomores Laura Bilder and Kimberly Condino also ran well last season and will be expected to contribute.
