Women's Fencing Closes Out Fall Campaign at Penn State Open

State College, Pa. - The Penn women's fencing team finished the fall campaign at the 32nd Penn State Open over the weekend. Six student-athletes finished in the top 25 in the three events.

In the saber, sophomores Katelyn Sherry and Cassandra Frey finished fifth and 17th, respectively, in the event. Valerie Providenza of the University of Notre Dame won the event.

In the epee, freshman Angelika Kyrimi finshed 16th in the event and sophomore Margaret Foster finished 23rd. Sophomore Jackie Schramm and freshman Grace Wilson also placed in the event for the Quakers, finishing 37th and 45th respectively. Katarzyna Trzopek of Penn State won the event.

In the women's foil, freshman Zoya Abdikulova placed 15th and sophomore Eve Overton placed 30th for the Quakers.

The Quakers will be in action next on January 22, 2005, when they travel to State College, Pa. for the Penn State Multi Meet.
