University Park, Pa. - The Quakers had five different fencers place in the top 20 of their respective weapon this weekend at the Penn State Open.
Freshman Gabby Foor was impressive in her Red and Blue debut, fencing her way to a seventh place finish in epee. Coming off an All-Ivy performance a season ago, sophomore Amrit Bhinder continued where she left off, securing a ninth place finish in epee. First-years Corey Novich and Lisa Dawes and senior Diana Ark also fenced well, taking 22nd, 28th and 25th respectively.
In saber, former All-American honoree and senior Danielle Kamis finished 14th overall, while junior Dominika Franciszkowicz, a two-time All-American selection, placed 17th overall. Junior Noelle Tay also fenced saber and finished 28th
In foil, it was freshman Wendy Zhao who led the team, taking 18th overall. Junior Laura Paragano finished in 28th, while freshman Julian Kulik and junior Mia Howell placed 31st and 33rd.
Penn returns to action on January 22, when the Quakers host the Philadelphia Invitational.
