Women's Fencing Finishes Temple Invite 2-2

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Saturday at the Temple Invitational held in McGonigle Hall, the No. 8 University of Pennsylvania women’s fencing team went 2-2, defeating No. 9 St. John’s and Brown. The Quakers fell to No. 6 Penn State and No. 3 Princeton and will wrap up their regular season slate tomorrow.

Senior Luona Wang and sophomore Cassidy Seidl both posted seven wins on the day. 3-0 marks against SJU and Brown helped Wang to her 7-3 record, while Seidl went 2-0 against Brown and 2-1 against SJU and Princeton.

Going 7-3, sophomore Alejandra Trumble posted the best record for epee. Trumble went 2-0 against SJU and Brown, 2-1 against Princeton, and 1-2 against PSU.

Sophomore Dana Kong led the way overall with a 9-3 record, including a 3-0 mark against Princeton and 2-1 marks against PSU, SJU, and Brown.

Quakers will resume action tomorrow at the US Fencing Collegiate Squad Championships hosted by Drew University. Bouting is set to begin at 9 a.m. in the Simon Forum.
