Women's Fencing Goes 2-2 at Temple Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women’s fencing team logged a 2-2 record at the Temple Invitational on Saturday. The Quakers picked up wins over St. John’s (14-13) and Temple (15-12), but couldn’t overcome Penn State (20-7) or Princeton (22-5).

The saber and foil squads produced the most success for the Quakers, each going 2-2. Freshman Kathryn Khaw posted the best record on saber, going 5-4. Arabella Uhry also chipped in five wins, while Shriya Joshi added three triumphs.

On foil -- Simone Unwalla registered a team-best mark of 6-6, while Naomi Popkin (5) and Catherine Seidl (3) combined for eight wins.

Alejandra Trumble, the reigning Ivy champion on epee, along with Kathryn Sizov each had five wins. Stephanie Wolf nabbed four triumphs.

The Quakers will be back at it tomorrow, when they host the Philadelphia Invitational at the Dave Micahnik Fencing Center.
