Women's Fencing Hangs Tough, Finishes NU Duals 4-2

EVANSTON, Ill. – The University of Pennsylvania women’s fencing team began its Saturday at the NU Duals by facing three nationally ranked opponents. The Quakers defeated No. 5 Ohio State 17-10, fell in a close dual to No. 9 Northwestern 13-14, and then lost to No. 1 Notre Dame 9-18. The Red and Blue ended out the day with three more wins against the Air Force, Stanford, and UCSD.

After starting the day with a 5-4 win over OSU, the foil squad dropped three duals in a row and ended the day at .500. Sophomore Cassidy Seidl recorded the most wins for foil, going 9-6 with a 2-1 mark against the Fighting Irish.

Both sophomore Aleina Edwards and freshman Stephanie Wolf contributed 10 wins of their own, but it was Edwards who recorded the better record of the two, going 10-3. Edwards went 3-0 against Northwestern and 2-1 against both OSU and ND.

The sabre squad was led by sophomore Dana Kong, who recorded the most wins for the Red and Blue with a 13-3 record. Kong went 3-0 against OSU and 2-1 against ND. Fellow sophomore Shriya Joshi also went 3-0 against OSU while freshman Arabella Uhry went 2-1 against all three ranked opponents.
