Women's Fencing Hosts Philadelphia Invitational Saturday

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Quakers engage in their first action of the new year on Saturday when they host nine teams for the Philadelphia Invitational in Hutchinson Gym.

Penn welcomes Drew, Duke, Farleigh Dickerson, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), North Carolina, Northwestern, Sacred Heart and city rival Temple to Penn's campus with fencing set to being at 10 a.m.

The Quakers have seen action once this season, participating in the Temple Open on October 31st through November 1st. In the event the Red and Blue impressed, as junior Danielle Kamis took first in sabre, while newcomer Amrit Bhinder finished second in epee.

Also doing well in epee was Jenna Stahl, who took seventh, while Diana Ark and Alexandra Kozyra placed 16 and 18 respectively. In foil, Mia Howell took 14th and freshman Aida Abdikulova placed 16th for the Quakers.
