Women's Fencing Opens Season at Temple Invitational

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Penn women's fencing team opened the season over the weekend at the 25th Annual Temple Invitational.Four fencers finished in the top ten in the three weapons, includingone second-place finisher and one third-place finish.

In the saber, sophomores Katelyn Sherry and Cassandra Frey finished second and tied for third, respectively. Sherry was defeated in the final by Sophia Hiss of Penn State and Frey tied Emma Nostrand of Drew University.

In the foil, sophomore Eve Overton finished in fifth place. In the epee, sophomore Jackie Schramm finished tied for third with Kira Hohensee of Princeton. Freshman Margaret Foster finished 27th and freshman Grace Wilson finished 32nd in the event.

The Quakers will be in action again next weekend, when they travel to State College, Pa. for the Penn State Open, Nov. 13-14.
