Philadelphia, Pa. -The University of Pennsylvania women's fencing team was perfect on Saturday in competition in Weightman Gym. The Quakers defeated Rutgers 24-3 and John's Hopkins 22-5 on the day.
In the foil, Christina Kaneshige went 6-0 while Eve Overton went 5-1 on the weapon for the day. Three Quakers team finished with perfect records on the day in the sabre. Annika Eiremo finished with a 5-0 day while Casey Frey and Lauren Phillips recorded 4-0 marks. In the epee, Holly Buechel and Jackie Schramm finished the day with perfect 6-0 records apiece and teammate Angelika Kyrimi went 4-1 on the weapon.
It was the second sweepof the season for the Quakers, who swept Duke, Haverford and Drew at the Penn State Multi Meet on Jan. 22.
The Quakers are next in action on Saturday, Feb. 5 when they travel to Harvard with Boston College and New York University.
