Women's Golf 19th After First Day

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Penn women’s golf team is in 19th place out of 22 teams after the first day of the First Market Bank Invitational, being held this weekend at Ford’s Colony Country Club. The Quakers shot 337 (49 over par) in Saturday’s round.

In the first tournament of the spring, freshman Tiffany Cheung had Penn’s best round on Saturday – she shot an eight-over-par 80 and is tied for 33rd overall. Junior Meredith Kotowski was right behind her with an 81, while Lisette Vitter carded an 87. Catherine Elliott and Elizabeth Pettie shot 89 to round out the Penn lineup.

Alabama leads the team scoring after shooting 306; the Crimson Tide is five shots ahead of second-place Penn State. Among other Ivy League teams, Columbia is tied for seventh after shooting 321, while Dartmouth is tied for 20th after shooting 347.

The individual leaders are Alabama’s Camilla Lennarth and Charleston Southern’s Madison Jeter, both of whom shot 74 Saturday. They are one stroke up on five other golfers.

The tournament will conclude with another round on Sunday.
