PHILADELPHIA - The Penn women's golf team has hit April, and the Ivy League Championships are suddenly right around the corner. The Quakers will begin their run-up to Ivies this Monday and Tuesday at the Hoya Women's Invitational, a 54-hole event hosted by Georgetown at the par-72, 6,127-yard The Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Md.

Penn tied for third out of 17 teams in this event last year. In addition to the host Hoyas and Ivy foe Yale, this year's field will include Eastern Michigan, Hampton, Nova Southeastern, Old Dominion, Richmond, St. John's, Seton Hall, Towson, and William & Mary. They are scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday, and a final 18 on Tuesday.

Penn's lineup has altered somewhat from the spring's opening tournament, the C&F Bank Intercollegiate. The Quakers will tee off Monday with senior Tiffany Cheung, juniors Isabel Han and Elizabeth Kresock, sophomore Olivia Chang, and freshman Amanda Chin. In addition, junior Libby Hooton will play the event as an individual.

"I am looking for our women to improve on last year's third-place finish at Georgetown," said Head Coach Mark Anderson. "We played great in the last round at William & Mary last week, and that should give the team some added confidence when we play on Monday and Tuesday. We have two events left before we head to Seaview Resort for the Ivy League championship at the end of April. How we play this week will dictate what we will work on during the next few weeks."
