PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women’s golf team will conclude the fall portion of its 2014-15 schedule this weekend at the University of Delaware Invitational. This will mark the Quakers’ second straight year; last year, sophomore Sophia Chen captured medalist honors and the team finished second in the field.
This year’s tournament is scheduled for 54 holes, 36 on Saturday and 18 on Sunday, with an 8 a.m. start both days. The event will be played on the par-72 Rehoboth Beach Country Club with a field that includes the host Blue Hens and the Quakers as well as Central Connecticut, Delaware State, Georgetown, LIU Brooklyn, Navy, Richmond and Towson.
Penn’s lineup this weekend will include senior Amanda Chin; and sophomores Chen, Marissa Kay, Erin Lo and Franchesca de la Torre. Freshman Allison Wong will also be in the field, playing the tournament as an individual.
“We played well in this event last year, with a second-place team finish and an individual victory by Sophia,” said head coach Mark Anderson. “I would love to see the team close out the season with a victory this weekend, and have Sophia defend her individual title from last year.”
