Women's Golf Finishes 12th at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - Led by a 25th-place finish from Meg Bender, the University of Pennsylvania women's golf team finished 12th out of 17 teams at the Princeton Fall Invitational, held Saturday and Sunday at Springdale G.C.

The Quakers shot a two-round total of 682 (344-338). Host Princeton took the championship with a score of 605 (299-306), well ahead of second-place Yale (309-316=625).

Bender shot an 81 on Saturday and came back with an 80 Sunday to finish at 161. She was followed on the Penn scorecard by Kim Thompson (81-83=164), who tied for 36th.

Stephanie Stamas (88-93=181) ended up 79th overall, Megan Brady (97-85=182) finished 80th and Alyson Golditch (94-90=184) was 83rd to round out the Quakers representation.

Princeton went 1-2-4 in the event, led by Sharla Cloutier who carded 76-69=145 to win the event by four strokes over teammate Marlowe Boukis (72-77=149) and Yale's January Romero (73-76=149).

The women are next in actionthis weekend (Oct. 1-2)at the Yale Fall Invitational in New Haven, Conn.
