Women's Golf Finishes 17th at FBMI

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Penn women's golf team finished 17th out of 22 teams at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate, which was held this weekend at Ford's Colony Country Club. The Quakers carded 337-331--668 over the two rounds in their first spring event of the year.

Freshman Tiffany Cheung led the way individually for the Quakers, carding a pair of 80s to finish tied for 25th overall. Junior Meredith Kotowski, playing her first event this year after missing the fall due to a study abroad term, shot 81-83--164 to tie for 47th overall and finish second in the Penn lineup.

Junior Lisette Vitter (87-84--171) improved by three strokes from Saturday and tied for 88th overall, while classmate Catherine Elliott (89-84--173) improved by five strokes and tied for 96th. Freshman Elizabeth Pettie (89-92--181) rounded out Penn's lineup.

Alabama swept the titles this weekend -- the Crimson Tide rolled to the team championship easily, carding 306-303--609 to win by 27 strokes over second-place Richmond, and Rhea Nair (75-74--149) captured the individual crown by a stroke over Penn State's Brianna Malcolmson and Charleston Southern's Madison Jeter.

Among the other Ivy League schools in the event, Columbia (321-323--644) finished 10th and Dartmouth (347-343--690) placed 21st.

Penn returns to action next Monday and Tuesday at the Hoya Invitational, which will be hosted by Georgetown University.
