Women's Golf Finishes Third at Brown Invitational

BARRINGTON, R.I. - In its last tuneup before the Ivy League Championships, the Penn women's golf team finished third out of nine teams at the Brown Invitational. The two-day event was hosted by Brown and took place on the par-72, 6,067-yard Rhode Island Country Club.

Penn improved its team score by three strokes from Sunday to Monday, carding 317 as a squad in the final round. That put the Quakers at 637 for the tournament, placing them behind champion St. John's (304-325--629) and host Brown (314-320--634). Yale had the low team round on Monday, a 313, and placed fourth at 642 overall. Dartmouth, the only other Ivy team in the field, was fifth at 654.

Junior Isabel Han finished third overall at Brown. She shot a 1-over par 73 on Monday and finished the tournament at 150. Freshman Amanda Chin carded a 79 and placed sixth overall, at 154. Sophomore Olivia Chang shot an 80 on Monday and finished the tournament tied for 26th at 166, while Tiffany Cheung carded an 86 and finished 32nd overall at 168. Libby Hooton scored for the Quakers on Monday with her 85, and tied for 42nd overall at 176.

Princeton's Kelly Shon played the tournament as an individual and won medalist honors. She shot 71 and 73 to finish at even-par 144 and defeated Harin Lee (St. John's) by three strokes.

Penn and the rest of the Ivy institutions will play the Seaview Bay Course in Galloway, N.J. to determine this year's Ivy League champion. The three-day event will run from April 27-29.
