BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Penn women's golf team shot the second-best round of the 10-team field Sunday to place third overall at the Kelly Gutshall Invitational, hosted this weekend by Lehigh at Saucon Valley CC. the Gutshall was Penn's final fall event of the 2009-10 season.
The Quakers shot 325-318--643 to finish behind only champion Harvard (318-315--633) and Columbia (312-324--636). Host Lehigh was fourth (328-322--650). Two other Ivy League teams competed in the event, Yale which finished fifth (655) and Dartmouth which was ninth (700).
Individually, Penn was led by sophomore Tiffany Cheung who tied for fourth overall (79-78--157). Senior Meredith Kotowski (82-78--160) tied for 12th overall, while Lisette Vitter (83-80--163) was 16th and freshman Isabel Han (82-82--164) was 17th. Senior Catherine Elliott (82-92--174) tied for 37th overall. A total of 48 golfers competed in the event.
Lehigh's Rose Davies and Yale's Harriet Owens-Bradle tied for medalist honors, as both shot 154 over the two rounds.
