Women's Golf Leads After First Day at Hoya Invite

BEALLSVILLE, Md. - The University of Pennsylvania women's golf team is in first place after the first day of the Hoya Invitational. The tournament was originally scheduled for 36 holes on Monday, but the 16-team field played only 18 due to the inclement weather from the weekend.

Playing its first tournament of the spring, Penn shot 309 as a team on Monday whichput the Quakers ahead of second-place Michigan (313) and third-place Yale (314).

Individually, junior Amanda Chin leads the field of 86 golfers after shooting a 2-over-par 74 on Monday. She is one stroke ahead of teammate Sophia Chen and Michigan's Lauren Grogan.

Marissa Kay is tied for seventh through Monday's action after shooting a first-round 78, while Erin Lo (82) is tied for 25th and Isabella Rahm (84) is tied for 41st.

The teams will conclude the Hoya Invitational by playing a final 18 holeson Tuesday.
