Women's Golf Leads After First Day at UNC-Wilmington

WALLACE, N.C. - The Penn women's golf team is in the lead at the 10-team UNC-Wilmington Lady Seahawk Classic, being hosted Monday and Tuesday at the par-72 River Landing Golf Course.

After lightning delayed the start of the first round, the Quakers shot 300 and then followed that up with 305 in the afternoon's second round. That put Penn 11 strokes ahead of three schools -- Elon, Jacksonville State, and host UNC-Wilmington.

Senior Catherine Elliott certainly made a splash with the first round of her final season; she carded a career-low 70 Monday morning, the followed that up with a second-round 76 to put her alone in second place,four strokes behind UNC-Wilmington's Carmen Perez-Narbon and two ahead of third-place Lucia Fernandez of Jacksonville State.

Sophomore Tiffany Cheung shot 75-77--152 and is tied for ninth overall, while Meredith Kotowski (77-76--153) is 11th and Isabel Han (78-76--154) is tied for 12th. Elizabeth Kresock (86-83--169) is 42nd overall and rounds out Penn's lineup this week.

The tournament is scheduled to conclude Tuesday morning with a third and final round.
