PRINCETON, N.J. - The Penn women's golf team placed fifth out of 12 teams at the Princeton Invitational, a 54-hole event that took place at the Springdale GC near the Princeton campus.
Penn shot 305-308-312--925 on the weekend. Harvard gained the team title, scoring a team 906 which was four shots ahead of Brown (910) and nine ahead of Columbia (915). The other Ivy teams in the field included host Princeton (sixth at 926) and Dartmouth (eighth at 936).
Sophomore Michelle Lee led Penn individually for the second time this week, as she shot 73-75-79--227 to finish 12th overall. Freshman Amanda Chin was second among Penn players and tied for 17th (75-80-76--231), while senior Tiffany Cheung tied for 22nd (80-75-78--233). Isabel Han placed 37th overall (77-85-79--241), and Olivia Chang scored once while tying for 40th (83-78-83--244). Freshman Kelsey Williams competed as an individual for Penn, and shot 93-84-93--270 in her collegiate debut.
Harvard's Tiffany Lim won the individual title in emphatic fashion, shooting a 3-under-par 213 which was six strokes ahead of second-place Michelle Piyapattra of Columbia.
After playing five days of tournament golf since Monday, the women get a bit of a breather -- they are off until Oct. 10-11, when they will compete in the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina University.
