PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women’s golf team is ready to tee it up at the 2016 Ivy League Women’s Golf Championships this weekend. The 54-hole event will start on Friday and run through Sunday, with the seven Ivy programs playing one round each day.

This year’s event will take place at the Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Conn. This is the first time the Ivy League has gone to the Stanwich Club, which is slated to play at par 73 and 6,094 yards. Play is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. all three days. Penn players will start teeing off at 11:30 a.m. for Friday's first round, paired with Dartmouth and Yale.

Penn’s lineup this weekend will feature juniors Sophia Chen, Erin Lo and Isabella Rahm; sophomore Tiffany Yau; and freshman Rachel Dai. Two of the juniors, Lo and Chen, have earned All-Ivy honors at this event in the past, Chen gaining first-team honors with a third-place finish last year and Lo tying for seventh in 2014 to earn second-team recognition.

Penn has finished fifth in each of the last three Championships. The Quakers won the team title once, in 2010.

“We are very excited about competing this week in the Ivy League Championships,” said head coach Mark Anderson, who was at the helm for Penn’s only title. “We have had a great spring and have a lot of momentum coming into this event. Our team has been very consistent this spring and has put together some very solid scores. I am confident that the team we are bringing to Ivies is the best team we have had in the past three or four years. We also have five players who can contend for the individual championship. The team is excited about the opportunity, and has the experience and confidence to get the job done.”
