PHILADELPHIA – With the Ivy League Championships just two weekends away, the University of Pennsylvania women’s golf team looks to turn things up a gear this Sunday and Monday at the sixth annual Brown Bear Spring Invitational. The 36-hole tournament will take place at the par-71, 5,935-yard Metacomet Country Club in East Providence, R.I.
The 36-hole tournament will begin with 18 holes on Sunday, with tee times starting at 10 a.m. Play will conclude with 18 holes and a 10 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. In addition to Penn and the host Bears, the field includes Dartmouth, Princeton and Yale from the Ivy League as well as Siena, Fairleigh Dickinson, Central Connecticut, Hartford, LIU Brooklyn, Albany, Sacred Heart, Hofstra, Quinnipiac, Holy Cross, and Boston University.
Penn’s lineup for this event will feature senior Amanda Chin; sophomores Isabella Rahm, Erin Lo and Franchesca de la Torre; and freshman Michelle Yom.
"I am excited to see how the team does with a slightly different lineup this weekend at Brown," said head coach Mark Anderson. "Michelle and Franchesca played well this week in practice and worked their way into the top 5. Metacomet has challenging greens, so we will see if our putting practice paid off this week. Our lineup for Ivies is still up in the air, so this event will give some of the team a chance to earn their spot at Saucon Valley in two weeks."
