Women's Golf Starts Spring in Virginia

2009 First Market Bank Intercollegiate - course information

PHILADELPHIA - The Penn women’s golf team opens the 2009 spring season this weekend at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate, which will be hosted by William & Mary at Ford’s Colony Country Club in Williamsburg, Va.

The teams are slated to play 36 holes on Saturday, and then 18 on Sunday.

Penn welcomes back junior Meredith Kotowski, who missed the fall season while studying abroad. She was the Quakers’ second-place finisher at the Ivy League Championships a year ago, and finished with an 81.7 stroke average which was second on the team.

This fall, like last year, the Quakers have been led by classmate Lisette Vitter (78.7 stroke average), while freshman Tiffany Cheung (80.3) and junior Catherine Elliott (81.4) were hot on her heels. Head coach Mark Anderson hopes those three, along with Kotowski, are the nucleus for success over this spring and into next year.
