Women's Golf Third After First Day at Roar-EE

SUFFERN, N.Y. - The Penn women's golf team is in third place out of 14 teams after the first day of the Roar-EE Invitational, being hosted by Columbia University on the par-72 Spook Rock Golf Course.

The Quakers shot 307 in Friday's round, and are seven shots behind leader Harvard (300) and one behind second-place Yale (306). Fairleigh Dickinson is fourth (311). All seven Ivy League schools are involved in the event.

Senior Meredith Kotowski was Penn's low scorer on Friday, carding a 4-over-par 76 to put her in a tie for seventh with seven other golfers. Four Penn players -- seniors Lisette Vitter and Catherine Elliott, and sophomore Tiffany Cheung -- shot 77 and are among several players tied for 14th. Freshman Isabel Han carded an 80 and is tied for 35th.

Columbia's Nancy Shon and Yale's Alexandra Lipa are atop the 75-player field; both shot 1-under-par 71 on Friday. Harvard's Mia Kabasakalis is third at even par.

Saturday's play will begin at approximately 11 a.m.
