PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women’s rowing team has its final Cup race on Saturday, as the Quakers face Princeton and Dartmouth for the Class of 1984 Plaque. The races, which will include Bucknell and take place on the Tigers’ home course on Lake Carnegie, will be the Quakers’ final before the Ivy League Championships in mid-May.

This race has been contested every year since 1985, with this weekend’s host (Princeton) winning the Varsity 8 race every year except for 1986 when Dartmouth took the title. The Tigers will be heavy favorites to win Saturday, as well, as they are ranked ninth in the latest College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) national poll.

“This is going to be a really challenging weekend for us as we look to apply what we learned from our Clemson Invitational racing experiences,” said head coach Wesley Ng. “Racing on Lake Carnegie presents a lot of challenges and we have to continue to establish our best pace over the entire distance. I am very pleased that we can field our third four with the return of some talented rowers. I have really appreciated their patience and commitment while, I’m sure they’ve appreciated the support of their teammates.”
