PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women's rowing program has another busy weekend as it concludes the fall portion of its 2012-13 season.

On Saturday, the Quakers will rowa trio ofnovice boats at the Philadelphia Frostbite Regatta, which will be held just across the bridges from Philadelphia on the famed Cooper River course in Cherry Hill, N.J. On Sunday, Penn will put several boats in at the University of Virginia's Rivanna Romp, an end-of-the-fall event that has become a staple on the Quaker schedule under Head Coach Mike Lane.

"What a great way to end fall racing, with multiple racing opportunities for our athletes," said Lane. "Our novices will race for the first time on the Cooper River, something they will remember for the rest of their lives.

"We will also be taking two varsity 8+ and a freshman 8+ to Charlottesville to race some great competition," he continued. "Racing the defending national champions is a great way for us to raise the bar on what we are trying to accomplish this year. The Romp is a low-key event but it has real high-caliber racing. It is the perfect way to test the hard work we have put in."
