Saturday’s races will be Penn’s final tune-up before the Ivy League Championships, which will take place Sunday, May 19 on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.

In the varsity 8 race, which has been run continuously since 1985, Princeton has dominated the Quakers and Big Green over the years. The Tigers have taken first place every year in this race with the exception of 1986, when Dartmouth took first. Princeton is ranked seventh in the latest CRCA/USRowing national coaches poll, while Dartmouth and Penn are among the teams also receiving votes.

“We learned a lot last weekend in Clemson and now we have the chance to see if what we have learned actually has sunk in,” said head coach Mike Lane. “It is a great way for us to wrap up our regular-season races with Princeton, Dartmouth and Tennessee.

“Our team this year has an outstanding group of athletes, now it is time to see all the hard work and great attitudes pay off with a strong performance this weekend.”
