Women's Rowing Competes at Navy Day Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - The Penn women's rowing team hadseveral boats compete at the Navy Day Regatta, which took place Saturday on the Schuylkill River.

The Quakers recorded the top time in twoevents, theWomen's College 4+ and the Women's College Novice 8+. In the 4+, Penn's A boat clocked16:48.00 over the 4,000-meter head course. Penn's B boat finished in 18:03.20, taking 10th among the 15 schools that competed in the event. In the Novice 8+, Penn's A boat timed 15:32.50 to best 13 other boats; the Quakers' B boat was seventh in the event, in 17:37.10.

In the JV 8+, Penn entered two boats and they finished second and sixth, respectively, out of 13 boats. The A boat clocked 15:52.30, while the B boat was timed in 16:32.80.

In the Women's College Championship 8+, Penn finished third out of 11 boats in 15:16.00. Only Navy (15:01.50) and Georgetown (15:13.00) were clocked with better times over the course.

Penn is back in action this weekend, heading to Boston for the prestigious Head of the Charles, which takes place Sunday.
