Women's Rowing Finishes a Busy Weekend

PHILADELPHIA - The Penn women's rowing team competed in two events over the weekend, putting a pair of boats in the Head of the Schuylkill Saturday and then several boats into the Princeton Chase on Sunday.

The Quakers had two boats in the Women's College Frosh/Novice Eights Saturday on the Schuylkill. Penn's first boat finished third overall in the class, clocking 16:45.4633 over the 2.5-mile course to place behind only Shamokin Dam Rowing Association (16:26.3367) and Fordham University (16:28.2267). Penn's other boat placed 24th in 19:13.2667.

On Sunday, Penn ran three boats in the Women's Varsity 8+ field, with the A boat having the best finish at 18th with a time of 16:09.289 on the three-mile course. Penn's B boat finished 33rd in 16:50.44, while the C boat was 41st in 17:49.021.

In the Women's Novice 8+, Penn's A boat was ninth overall in 17:36.583 while the B boat was 12th in 18:40.255. The Quakers also had a boat in the Women's Varsity 4+, and they finished 29th in the field with a time of 18:53.257.

Penn will conclude the fall season by competing at Virginia's Rivanna Romp on November 16.
