Princeton Chase - Final Results
PRINCETON, N.J. - Rowing in far better conditions than the day before, the Penn women's rowing team concluded a busy weekend at the Princeton Chase Sunday on Lake Carnegie.
The highlight came in the varsity eight field, where Penn's A boat placed seventh out of 49 boats, clocking 15:27.54 over the three-mile course. It was the Quakers' best finish at this event in Head Coach Mike Lane's nine years onthePenn staff, surpassing the eighth-place finish of the 2009 varsity eight.Penn's B boat finished 27th in the field, while the C boat was 49th.
"It was a very good day for our first 8," said Lane. "Those kids dealt with adversity coming into the weekend and really used that as motivation."
In the novice eight field, Penn's A boat took fourth out of 18 while the B boat was 13th overall. The A boat clocked 16:50.07, edging Dartmouth by nearly two seconds for fourth, while the B boat went 18:02.15.
In the women's open fours, Penn's A boat covered the course in 18:3.97 and finished 20th out of 30 boats. The Quakers' B boat was 29th (19:15.54) and the C boat was 20th (19:59.94).
"As a team, I was a little disappointed as I believe we have more speed than what we showed," said Lane. "We are excited to make the changes we need, then head down to Virginia and the Rivanna Romp for our final races of the fall in two weeks."
