PHILADELPHIA – Off a successful debut to the 2015-16 season last weekend on the Schuylkill River, the University of Pennsylvania women’s rowing team will bring 23 athletes to the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta. The event runs all weekend on the Charles River in Boston.

For the first time in recent memory, Penn will place three boats in this year’s regatta. On Saturday afternoon, the Quakers will row in the Women's Club Fours and Women's Club Eights divisions. On Sunday afternoon, the Red and Blue will send out a boat in the Women's Championship Eights division.

On Saturday night from 6-9 p.m., all three Penn rowing programs will host a gathering of alums and friends at the Russell House Tavern in Cambridge. Click here for more information, and to register!

“We are bringing a large squad to the Head of the Charles this year,” said head coach Wesley Ng. “It’s an exciting event, but we have to remember that it’s a rowing race with a lot of variables that will test every level of our preparation with a healthy dose of luck thrown in. Our group gets the chance to hopefully qualify entries for next year’s regatta and future Penn rowers! It’s amazing to see how the event continues to grow and evolve, and we feel very fortunate to be a part of it.”
