The Connell Cup - Penn vs. Yale and Columbia
THE RACE - The Penn women's rowing team will head to New York City Saturday to open up Ivy competition against Yale and Columbia in the Connell Cup. The Quakers opened their season last weekend with solid performances in two races at Clemson.
THE HISTORY - Penn hasn't captured the Connell Cup since 1999, winning it that year by more than five seconds over Yale. Since then, the Elis have dominated the competition, winning it five times. Last year, Yale ran away with an 8.8-second victory over Columbia in 6:41.1, with Penn finishing third in 6:58.5.
