PHILADELPHIA – Fresh off its annual spring-break trip to Georgia, the University of Pennsylvania women’s rowing team is ready to push off its spring season, as the Quakers host Saint Joseph’s and George Washington on Saturday morning on the Schuylkill River.

The first race of the day will be the Varsity 4B and will take place at 9:30 a.m. The varsity 8 will conclude the day of racing at 10:50 a.m.

Fans from campus who would like to attend the races can catch a spectator bus. The bus will leave from 38th Street at 9 a.m., taking people directly to the Penn boathouse and then to the grandstands at the finish line. It will pick up at the grandstands at 11:15, dropping people back at the boathouse as well as campus.

“We have had both a great winter camp and spring break,” said Penn’s head coach, Mike Lane. “I know our athletes are very excited to get out and compete this weekend. It has been a tough winter; however, spring racing is here and we are ready to put our hard work to test.

“Saint Joseph’s and George Washington are both crews itching to take a piece of us, as we have beaten them the last two years. Our goal will be to go out and race with intensity and determination. It will be great to get out on a 2,000-meter course and start our season!”
