PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women's rowing team swept all four races in which it competed on Saturday, as the Quakers rowed through Boston College and Saint Joseph's on the Schuylkill River.

In the Varsity 8 race, Penn's time of 6:20.80 across the 2,000-meter course was enough to defeat second-place BC by more than seven seconds, with Saint Joseph's coming in a distant third.

In the Second Varsity 8, the Quakers clocked 6:37.09 which provided more than 12 seconds of cushion ahead of BC (6:49.15) and SJU (6:51.00).

The Varsity 4 won by nearly five seconds, clocking 7:27.84 which was ahead of the Eagles (7:32.74) and the Hawks (7:42.66). In the Varsity 4 B race, Penn's time of 7:37.3 was just ahead of BC (7:39.3) while Saint Joseph's was well behind the field (8:02.5).

Penn returns to action next Saturday with the start of Cup season; the Quakers will meet Columbia and Yale for the Connell Cup, with this year's races taking place in Northern New Jersey.
