Philadelphia The University of Pennsylvania women’s rowing team had a successful day on the Schuylkill River as the Quakers won the Championship Eights at the 2004 Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Oct. 30.
In the Championship Eights, the Red and Blue finished first in a time of 14:30:95, edging Navy (14:36:27) by six seconds. Marist College placed third (15:01:62) while Drexel took fourth (15:07.95).
The Red and Blue had two boats compete in the Novice Eights, with Boat “A” finishing 14th in a time of 16:41:76, while Boat “B” clocked a 17:28:05. Princeton took the event in 15:11:86.
In the Open Fours with a coxswain, Penn earned a time of 20:03:16 to place 29th. The Quakers also competed in the Club Eights, taking 12th place with a time of 16:08:63.
The varsity will compete at the Princeton Chase on Nov. 7 and the freshmen will close out the fall season at the Belly of the Carnegie on Nov. 14.
