Women's Rowing Takes Second at Connell Cup

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The University of Pennsylvania women's rowing team raced at the Connell Cup on Saturday. The races took place on the Housatonic River.

In the varsity 8 race, No. 7-ranked Yale took first place, covering the 2,000-meter course in 6:12.0. Penn was second, in 6:19.4, while Columbia was third in 6:21.3.

In the second varsity 8 race, Yale's time of 6:21.4 was ahead of the Quakers' 6:31.4 and Columbia's 6:39.6.

Yale also took first place in the varsity 4 race, clocking 7:02.4 which was well ahead of Penn (7:17.7) and Columbia (7:28.4). In the third varsity race, Yale's boat took first (6:36.4), while Penn's third varsity was second (6:43.1) and the Quakers' fourth eight was third (6:57.1).

In the final fours race, Yale (7:13.4) defeated Penn (7:22.9).

Penn returns to action next weekend in Boston, facing Northeastern and Syracuse in the Orange Challenge Cup.
