Women's Rowing Third at 1984 Award Plaque Races

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Penn women's rowing team took third place in all three eights on Saturday as part of the Class of 1984 Award Plaque, contested during the morning on Lake Carnegie.

In the varsity race, highly regarded Princeton clocked 6:25.6 over the 2,000-meter course and easily defeated second-place Dartmouth (6:40.0), third-place Penn (6:42.6), and fourth-place Bucknell (6:55.4).

In the second varsity eight, Princeton's 6:39.3 was again well ahead of the field. Bucknell was second in 6:52.0, followed by Penn (6:59.5) and Dartmouth (7:03.8).

In the varsity four race, Princeton was first followed by Dartmouth, Bucknell and Penn (7:58.4). In the third varsity eight, Bucknell won in 7:18.2, with Princeton second (7:20.1) and Penn third (7:25.0) well ahead of Dartmouth (7:38.4).

Penn placed two boats in the varsity 4B race. Bucknell won in 8:20.5, with Penn's B second in 8:25.0 and the C boat third in 9:09.1.

Penn returns to action one final time before Eastern Sprints, competing against current CRCA No. 1 Virginia next Saturday in Charlottesville, Va.
