Women's Soccer Adds Paige Lombard to Roster

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer coach, Darren Ambrose, has announced the addition of Paige Lombard to the Quakers’ roster for the 2014 season. A transfer, Lombard joins the program from the University of Miami and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

“We are really please that Paige chose to come to Penn,” said Ambrose, who enters his 15th season at the helm in 2014. “She has ACC experience, which will allow her to hit the ground running this fall. She is an athletic defender who will complement a very good core of played in those roles. We pride ourselves on how we defend, and Paige will add to that strength.”

Lombard joins a program that is coming off one of its best seasons ever. Penn had an exceptional 2013 season, going 12-1-4 overall -- setting a school record for fewest losses -- and finishing second in the Ivy League at 5-1-1. Defensively, the Quakers finished fourth in the country in shutout percentage, with 12 clean sheets in 17 matches, and allowed just eight goals all year.

Penn returns 15 letterwinners from last year’s team, including six starters and a trio of first-team All-Ivy players in juniors Caroline Dwyer, Erin Mikolai and Kalijah Terilli. The Quakers will open their 2014 season on Friday, Sept. 5 at Mount St. Mary’s.
