Women's Soccer Blanks Brown, 2-0, on Senior Day

Box Score

Philadelphia – It was a fitting Senior Day for Katy Cross and Rachelle Snyder as they each tallied goals in the University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer team’s 2-0 win over Brown this afternoon.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the team. It wasn’t a pretty game but we showed a lot of guts and character to pull it out,” Head Coach Darren Ambrose said. “The seniors showed their hearts and what they could do on the field. And it was a fitting end for Katy and Rachelle scoring today, to end their careers here they way they started.”

Cross got the scoring started for the Quakers (9-5-2, 4-1-1 Ivy League) heading in senior Lydia Bojcun’s corner kick at 16:13. The goal was Cross’ 12th of the season and the assist was Bojcun’s fourth. Snyder gave the Red and Blue a 2-0 lead at 75:35 netting her seventh goal of the year on a breakaway after a Tracy Bienenfeld pass.

Brown (7-9-0, 2-4-0 Ivy League) held a slight 7-6 advantage in shots, but senior Anna Halse and the Penn defense continued their excellent play to keep the Bears off the board. Halse made two saves on the afternoon while counterpart Hillary Wilson made one stop.

The Quakers have one more test this season as they head to No. 7 Princeton on Nov. 6. The Tigers (14-1-0, 6-0-0 Ivy League) clinched the 2004 Ivy League title on Oct. 29.
