BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer team scored two beautiful goals in the final 12 minutes in beating Lehigh Tuesday night, 2-0. It was the Quakers’ final non-conference match of the 2014 season and pushed their overall record to 6-5-3.
Sophomore Olivia Blaber opened the scoring for the Quakers off a free kick, converting a bicycle kick near the penalty spot which found its way inside the right post. Erin Mikolai, who put the ball into play, and senior Kaitlyn Moore -- whose header led to Blaber's spectaculareffort -- were credited with assists on the sophomore's first collegiate goal.
Anna Estep provided the insurance with just4:31left in regulation, getting off a shot from about 25 yards out that beat Lehigh goalkeeper Ani Nahapetian to her right and bounced in off the left post. Kristen Miller was credited with the assist, as she fed Estep.
Kalijah Terilli was the other story in Tuesday night’s game, as she madeeight saves -- including a few of the spectacular variety when it was still a 0-0 match-- to post Penn’s sixth shutout this season.
Penn is back in action on Saturday, hosting Ivy rival Brown in its final home match of the 2014 season. Senior Night festivities will proceed kickoff, which is slated for 5 p.m.
