Women's Soccer Dominates Youngstown State, 3-0

PHILADELPHIA - The Penn women's soccer team defeated Youngstown State, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at Rhodes Field.

The Quakers dominated the entire contest, outshooting the Penguins 25-5 (13-2 on goal) and scoring all three goals in the first half as every available player saw time.

Penn's first goal came in the 12th minute. A Colleen Barry free kick from the left side was headed back across the goalmouth by Alex Dayneka, where Brianna Rano was waiting to easily slide it into an open goal.

The Quakers doubled their lead just after the half-hour, as Marin McDermott broke down the right side, got into the box, and sent a cross into the middle the freshman Callan Parra slid through for her first collegiate goal.

Less than four minutes after that, Penn's lead went to 3-0 when freshman Megan York scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Erin Beck.

Sarah Banks started in goal for Penn and had a saves in 62 minutes. Rachel Resek came on for the final 28, and she was called upon once.

Pennhas now won seven matches in a row at home, and has yet to concede a goal at Rhode Field in four matches this season. The Quakers are home twice next weekend, hosting Cornell in an Ivy League match Friday at 7 p.m. before St. Francis (Pa.) comes to town for a Sunday matinee at 1 p.m.
