NEWARK, Del. – In its final non-conference tune-up before Saturday’s upcoming Ivy League opener with Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer team defeated Delaware, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.

Penn improved to 3-1-2 on the season, while Delaware fell to 4-5-0.

Penn’s goal came late in the first half off the head of senior Kaitlyn Moore, who missed each of the Quakers’ first four games due to injury before making her 2014 debut Friday at VCU. Erin Mikolai made the pass to Moore and was credited with the assist.

After that, it was up to senior Katherine Myhre and junior Kalijah Terilli to preserve the shutout and the win.Terilli -- who relieved Myhre at halftime --did that in dramatic fashion, coming up with two saves in the game’s final 40 seconds.

Penn and Delaware both ended the game with six shots; the Quakers had a 5-0 advantage in the first half, while the Blue Hens held a 6-1 advantage in the second stanza. Mikolai had the Red and Blue’s only other shot on goal, which was saved by Delaware keeper Jess Figueroa.

Penn and Harvard -- which took the Ivy League title last year, ahead of the second-place Quakers -- will kick off on Rhodes Field Saturday at 7 p.m.
