Philadelphia The University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer team has an exciting weekend coming up as they travel to California for the first time in program history. The Red and Blue will face No. 14 California on Friday, Sept. 17 at 4:30pm (PST) and the University of San Francisco on Sunday, Sept. 19.
“We know both games will be great competition,” Head Coach Darren Ambrose said. “Cal will be our third ranked team in the last four games and will provide a good challenge for us. USF is having its best season in recent history and have several key players we will need to pay attention to.”
Cal (4-1-1) is riding a four-game unbeaten streak entering Friday’s contest and is led by junior Liz Eisenberg who has five goals and 10 points so far this season. San Francisco (2-2-2) returns to the Bay Area after playing its first six games on the road. The Dons, who will play three games in the next five days, are led by Stephanie Gray who has two goals and three assists in her last three games.
The trip also will be a fitting homecoming for six Quakers Katy Cross, Jennifer Price, Rachelle Snyder, Megan Boys, Alysha Hoven and Jacquelyn McNaughtonwho all hail from the Golden State.
Penn returns home on Sept. 26 for its first Ivy League match-up as Harvard visits Rhodes Field at 1 p.m.
