PHILADELPHIA -The Penn women's soccer team dominated much of its match Sunday night with Temple, but it wasn't until the second half that the Quakers broke through on the way to a 2-0 win over the Owls in the first meeting between these city foes since 2006.

Penn improved to 2-0-0 with the win, completing a sweep of its opening weekend. Temple fell to 1-3-1 with the loss.

Brianna Rano scored Penn's opening goal in the54th minute, when her long free kick from the right side was misjudged by Temple goalkeeper Tara Murphy. The Owls keeper came off her line and into traffic to try and collect the ball, but instead she missed it and it continued to bounce past several Temple defenders into the goal.

The Quakers sealed the win with just over 13 minutes to play when junior Kerry Scalora played a cross from the left side that found classmate Claire Walker alone at the far post. She easily headed it in for her first collegiate goal.

Penn was never severely threatened at the other end, as Temple took just two shots and forced Sarah Banks to make just one save. The Quakers had 19 shots in the game, as Murphy finished the contest with eight saves and Shauni Kerkhoff -- who replaced Murphy shortly after Penn's second goal -- had one stop.
