Women's Squash Advances to Howe Cup Semifinals

PRINCETON, N.J. – With the first day of the College Squash Association (CSA) team championships in the books, the third-ranked University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team rolled to a 8-1 victory over No. 6 Cornell in the first round of the Howe Cup in Princeton, N.J.

Penn (11-2) was able to win in all but one position on the ladder, and was victorious in all but three games in the contest against Cornell (8-6).

The Quakers saw shutout individual wins from Anaka Alankamony, Haidi Lala, Courtney Jones, Michelle Wong, Carey Celata, and Ailsa Agnew. Chloe Blacker won her match in the eighth position, 3-1, pushing her individual season record to 10-0.

With the win, Penn advances to the Howe Cup semifinals to face No. 2 Trinity, Conn. The Bantams (14-1)advanced to the semifinals with a 9-0 win over No. 7 Stanford. Trinity defeated the Quakers, 6-3, earlier this season, on Jan. 18.
