Women's Squash Beats Yale To Take Third at Howe Cup

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Penn women’s squash team finished its season off with a win, beating Yale, 6-3, to claim third place in the Howe Cup on Sunday.

The win will ensure that the Quakers finish the year ranked third in the nation, a two-spot improvement over last year’s ranking.

As it had all year, Penn relied on the strength of the bottom of its line-up as it won at positions six through nine. But the Quakers also got critical victories from Sidney Scott at No. 2 and Paula Pearson at No. 3 as each pulled out a 3-1 victory.

Tara Chawla eased to a 3-0 win at No. 6, while Alisha Turner had to battle for her 3-1 victory at No. 7, going to 10 points twice in her 8-10, 10-8, 9-1, 9-3 win.

Although Penn’s team season is over, the Quakers will host the CSA Individual Championships March 2-4 at Ringe Courts.
