Women's Squash Claims Pivotal Win at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. - In its first of three Ivy road matches this week, the second-ranked University of Pennsylvania women's squash team defeated No. 5 Princeton, 6-3, on the road Wednesday evening.

The win is the Quakers third straight over Princeton (5-2, 1-2 Ivy), and their 10th victory over the Tigers since 2000.

Penn's middle of the lineup took control of the match against the Tigers, with the No. 3-8 positions winning their individual matches. Freshman Melissa Alves and juniors Haidi Lala and Camille Lanier won their matches in five games, while sophomore Michelle Wong and freshman Ali Richmond won in four. Freshman Marie Stephan won her match, 3-0.

The Quakers(9-1, 3-0 Ivy) will play twice more this week, Saturday at No. 4 Yale and Sunday at No. 11 Brown. Before Wednesday's match, Penn and the Bulldogs were tied atop the Ivy League standings, with the Quakers now gaining a slight edge before the head-to-head matchup.
