Women's Squash Defeats Yale, 5-4

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Penn’s No. 2 women’s squash team narrowly defeated No. 5 Yale, 5-4, on Saturday. It came down to the round of matches when the Quakers and Bulldogs were tied 3-3 with three matches left. Kristen Lange and Tara Chawla won their matches in the No.1 and No. 7 positions respectively to clinch the win. Penn remains undefeated, 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Ivy League.

In the first round of matches Penn took a 2-1 lead. In the No. 9 position of the ladder, Emily Goodwin defeated Kaki Ettinger in four games, while Annie Madeira at No. 6 edged Caroline Reigelith in three games.

The Bulldogs tied the contest up, 3-3, when they added two wins in the second round of matches to make the final round the deciding matches. Lange easily handed Logan Greer a 3-0 loss, while giving up just six points. Chawla kept her game interesting; she traded the first two games with Tara Wadwa, but then swept the final two for the win.

The Quakers are headed to Providence, R.I. Sunday to play Brown at 11 a.m.
