Women's Squash Downs Diplomats, 9-0, in Non-League Tilt

LANCASTER, Pa. – After getting the kinks out Saturday in their first match in over a month, the No. 1 ranked University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team traveled an hour and a half west to defeat Franklin & Marshall Wednesday evening, 9-0. Despite resting a number of regulars in their top-nine, Penn (5-0) still won all nine matches by a 3-0 score over the Diplomats (4-4).

Senior Paula Pearson led the way at No. 1, winning 3-0 (9-2, 9-0, 9-0) over Jessica Mitchell. Alisha Turner followed suit at No.2, winning 3-0, and shutting out Davinia Buckley in the first two games.

Emily Goodwin had a very impressive showing at No. 6. She shutout Courtney Mulligan in Games 1 and 2 and allowed her to score just one point in Game 3. Anita Sellers and Allie Friedman also shutout their opponents in two of three games, while Lauralynn Drury, Caitlin Russell and Christina Matthias also picked up wins.

The Quakers do not play again until Sunday, Jan. 28, when they host No. 3 Trinity at 2 p.m.
